Placido Domingo is renowned as one of the most iconic and successful classical vocalists of all time. He began his career in opera in 1961 with both his International and U.S. debut performances, as Alfredo in La traviata at the Teatro María Teresa Montoya in Monterrey and as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Dallas Civic Opera. Placido Domingo is a member of the Three Tenors, has recorded over 100 complete operas, has performed as 149 different character roles, has won 8 U.S. Grammy Awards, has won 5 Latin Grammy Awards, sings professionally in six different languages, and has now spent 50 incredible years with the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
